ABOUT

Founded by Stefano “Tano” Ioele, G_Tano is a high-energy funk collective that blends old-school rhythms, acid jazz atmospheres, Mediterranean fusion, and psychedelic soul. Born in Melbourne in 2022, the band thrives on cultural diversity, featuring core members from South Korea, Panama, Indonesia, Italy, and Australia, while an extended family of rotating musicians from Ecuador, Chile, Brazil, and Fiji frequently join their explosive live sets.The first to join the band was Tim Agius, a highly regarded bassist in Melbourne’s scene (The Yachtski Brothers, The Bowie Project). He was soon followed by the rising star drummer Gandhi Manohara (Colour Burn, Lola Scott), piano virtuoso Hong Yang (Firetail, Headphones Jones), and Angel “Pana” Castillo Moreno on percussion (Winfield Road Experiment, King River Rising). Together, they create a sonic experience that transcends borders.

G_Tano’s reputation for electrifying performances has earned them sold-out shows at Open Studio and Bar Oussou, great numbers at bigger venues, like Northcote Social Club, Evelyn Hotel, Shotkickers, the Beast on Lygon and Bergy Bandroom, and memorable appearances at the Brunswick Street Festival and Renaissance Festival. The band has been honoured by being the only band at the National Gallery of Victoria’s Grand Gala Night in December 2024.
